A designer vagina is a catch-all term for cosmetic surgery carried out on the vulva and vagina.
Treatments that fall under this umbrella include vaginoplasty, a surgical procedure for vaginal tightening, labiaplasty, a procedure to reduce the labia minora, and vaginal rejuvenation treatments.
Some women feel dissatisfied with the appearance or feel of their genital area, which can have a negative impact on their day-to-day lives, not to mention their mental health. As a result, many women can find this a difficult and embarrassing topic to talk about. But rest assured that our professionals here at the Cadogan Clinic will treat you with the dignity and respect you deserve.
All of the above procedures are performed by our expert surgeons here at the Cadogan Clinic.
What does a designer vagina look like?
Labiaplasty and vaginoplasty surgery can be combined to achieve a designer vagina. A designer vagina would feature shortened labia minora, resulting in a neater external appearance.
Internally, a designer vagina would have a tightened vaginal cavity. This would result in heightened sexual satisfaction, increased sensitivity and ease or eliminate urinary incontinence.

What is vaginal rejuvenation?
A combination of ageing and stretching during a natural birth can leave the vagina feeling looser and less sensitive. This can impact a woman’s sexual satisfaction.
Vaginal rejuvenation is a combination of surgical procedures which aim to tighten both the internal vaginal muscles and the perineum to help improve the overall tone and strength of the area, enhancing sensitivity and sexual experience.
While a vaginoplasty works by tightening the vagina internally, a vaginal rejuvenation procedure will improve the feel and look of the area both internally and externally. The goal is to return the vagina and vulva to a pre-pregnancy state. The perineum, which can often tear in childbirth, is often repaired as part of this treatment.
Vaginal rejuvenation surgery is usually carried out under a general anaesthetic. A typical operation takes about two hours and patients will be discharged to go home the same day.
How does tightening the vagina work?
The Cadogan Clinic surgeon will use dissolvable stitches to join together the stretched muscle at the back of the vagina. This will shorten the muscle. The excess vaginal lining is removed and the surrounding soft tissue is tightened. The result will be a smaller vaginal cavity.
This surgery tightens a series of muscles and ligaments which is more commonly known as the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor supports the bladder, uterus and bowel. Therefore vagina tightening surgery also helps to support these internal organs. Vagina tightening surgery helps to lessen or resolve urinary incontinence - another side effect of childbirth and the ageing process.
"I was extremely satisfied with the care and treatment I received at the Cadogan Clinic. My surgeon was friendly and informative and explained the procedure fully. My procedure went very well and with the excellent care of the nursing staff, I made a speedy and full recovery. Would recommend to anyone."
"At the beginning before the operation the nurse taking care of me made me feel so comfortable. The surgeon and anesthetist helped me feel so calm. Fantastic before and after treatment"
"The girls on the reception at the clinic were very pleasant and professional. The nurse who took out my stitches after my surgery was just lovely and took me through step by step what she was doing and she also recommended a great cream to use to help with healing."
“I was treated with care and provided with thorough knowledge about the procedure I was undertaking. My surgeon was very methodical (a perfectionist) and I felt I received A class treatment."
"Outstanding experience from the first appointment to being discharged. Very professional, friendly and a fantastic outcome."
"Reception staff very welcoming and efficient. Both nurses who I dealt with were fantastic, and the whole team (anaesthetist, surgeon etc) were friendly but professional, and really put my mind at ease. That I was able to stay later than I perhaps needed after my surgery to fit in with my husbands schedule was greatly appreciated."
What is labial rejuvenation?
Labial rejuvenation, otherwise known as labiaplasty, is a surgery that is carried out to reduce the size of the labia minora, the flaps of skin on either side of the vaginal opening.
Labias come in all different shapes and sizes and it is perfectly normal to have noticeable skin folds around the opening of the vagina. However, some women feel anxious and self-conscious about the appearance of their labia, which is why they turn to labiaplasty.
Having a large labia can get in the way of sex, causing discomfort or pain. Labiaplasty can help to improve sexual function.
Other reasons why women undergo surgery to shorten their labia include that they may be experiencing general discomfort during normal day-to-day activities. For example, a large or long labia could make it difficult to ride a bike or a horse without discomfort. It may even mean that certain underwear choices are out of bounds.
Treatments mentioned in this article
Vaginal surgery can involve both the tightening of the vaginal pelvic floor, as well as rebuilding and reinforcing the perineal muscles on the outside of the vagina. Often referred to as Vaginoplasty, this is a reconstructive operation and rebuilds the pelvic floor in cases where women have experienced severe stretching of the vaginal tissue and muscles, as well as the perineal body at the entrance of the vagina, strengthening the muscles and reducing vaginal laxity.
Vaginal rejuvenation is a combination of surgical procedures which can effectively improve the appearance, sensation and function of your vagina and surrounding areas, including the labia and perineum.
Oversized or irregularly shaped labia are common. Although there is no accepted definition of what is normal when it comes to the vulva, and labia truly come in all shapes & sizes, however they may be enlarged or significantly asymmetrical.
